“The best part of any city is its people.”

In 1995, as an amateur video producer with the Denver Community Television station,  Fran produced a 33-minute video called “Neighborhood Music”.  Walking alone, she filmed her neighborhood with flashbacks to a time when music could be heard. The contrast of walking in the neighborhood with and without people, with and without music, emphasized, “The best part of any city is its people.”

In 1994, Fran coordinated a Neighborhood Scavenger History Hunt Walk with the Rocky Mountain Wanderers who are affiliated with the American Volkssport Association (AVA) and the International Volkssport Federation (IVV).  Denver Mayor Wellington Webb made additional neighborhood history by being our fascinating and  honored Walk Guest on this walk.  Our neighborhood’s Councilwoman Polly Flobeck was another delightful Walk Guest.

Back then, Fran had no opportunity to conveniently and affordably coordinate smaller and more frequent walks of this kind.  With the new found power of the Internet, and with the help of Apple MacIntosh’s One-on-One support, Fran made a commitment for 2008 to volunteer to build the Topic-Talk Walks Internet tool for all interested volunteer organizations and individuals to use to build the walking talk shows of their choice.
